Do you believe in miracles?

I know this question may sound
hypothetical or passé,
but I have been giving this notion some serious thought. As we face an era of
more stress, anxiety, and despondency in our country, depression rates have
soared. Doubts, insecurities, and uncertainties in life are on the rise. It is
clear that many people are paralyzed by these affects.
“Health-insurance company, Blue Cross
Blue Shield, released a report on May 10, 2018, showing that, according to
analysis of the 41 million people it insures, depression diagnoses increased
33% from 2013 to 2016. Though, overall, women are more than twice as likely as
men to be diagnosed with depression, both men and women saw the same 33%
increase over the three-year period.”[1] Now that’s depressing. Surely,
we need a miracle!
Recently, I have been going through
the most difficult trial of my life. Maybe you are too. But when these
crucibles crush your spirits, don’t become shattered, just believe! Look to God
and live (Num. 21:8)! Put your faith in Jesus Christ and give Him your fears.
This practice taught me to rely on the Bible. The Bible is packed with parables
about tragedies that turn to triumphs. The stories of Joseph, Moses, David,
Job, Paul, and the Gospels, just to name a few, give proof of that. But what
about modern-day miracles? Do they still happen?
Yes, miracles happen! Let me share my
miracle story. Last year in December, I was in a serious three-car accident and
my vehicle was one of the two that were totaled. Due to my difficult
circumstances, I had not been able to replace my car.
I used low cost rental cars ($6/day)
for several weeks. But even that savings along with rental pick-ups and drop-offs
was getting too expensive and time consuming. I began to pray. No, I cried to
the Lord. The Bible says, “You do not have because you do not ask” (James 4:3).
So, I decided to pray and ask for a free car. Yes, you heard me a FREE car! I
decided that when I took this rental car back God would provide. I didn’t know
how but I knew He would.
The very next day, I was talking to my
sister-in-law, who informed me that my nephew and his wife were planning to
relocate from Canada and that they had their second car delivered here to the
States. However, they were refused entry to the United States at the border.
The car made it to my sister-in-law’s house but my nephew and his wife didn’t! My
sister-in-law lives in a townhouse and didn’t have an extra parking space. She
also didn’t want to leave her son’s fancy race-car on the street. So, she asked
me, since we didn’t have a second car, whether we could keep the car in our
garage. Then she said these words, “Feel free to use it, they won’t be here for
some time.” God did it! This was my free car! God be praised! I got the car in
early May and my nephew came at the end of August to retrieve it. I had a free
fancy, one-of-a kind exclusive race-car for 5 months. The number 5 is God’s
number for grace. I got a 5 month measure of it!
Do you need a miracle? Remember, “And
my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ
Jesus (Phil. 4:19). Just believe!
