You have probably heard by now that there was a major apartment fire last night in the Sligo Church vicinity. The apartments are close to the intersection of Flower Avenue and Piney Branch Road.
The facts as we know them at this stage are:
Sligo Administrative Pastor, Don McFarlane, visited the affected apartments and the Relief Hub earlier today and pledged assistance from Sligo Church. Sligo Church will work closely with Adventist Community Services in providing assistance. Should you wish to make a personal contribution, you can do so by making a monetary donation through Sligo Church’s Giving Envelope or through Sligo Church’s website. Clearly indicate that the donation is for the Piney Branch Fire relief efforts. You can also make material donations to our Adventist Community Services office, located at 501 Sligo Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20910. The items needed at this time are clothes, toiletries and money. Sligo Church will make a contribution to the relief efforts from its Emergency Fund, in addition to the donations given by the members of the Church community.
Please join the Pastoral Staff and leadership team in praying for the bereaved families, the injured and the displaced.
