Jesus love me this I know

For the Bible tells me so

Little ones to Him Belong

We are weak but He is Strong

Yes, Jesus loves me

Yes, Jesus loves me

Yes, Jesus loves me

The Bible tells me so

“Yes, Jesus love me...the Bible tells me so”, is such a powerful phrase in this children’s song. The phrase reminds the singer that Jesus truly loves them. The Bible holds the truth that no matter what, Jesus’ love does not change. His love is not earthly, it is heavenly and it is constant. To some, this song instantly reminds them of Sabbath School. The lyrics of this song also reminds the children that sing it that the love of Jesus is everlasting. It tells children that even in times when they are sad or scared, they can count on Jesus no matter what.

I have been blessed with a position at church that involves working closely with the individuals that help to teach our children each Sabbath morning about the indescribable love of God.

When a child is exposed to the Sabbath School experience, it allows them to have a close and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, even at a young age. The songs that these children sing when they are young and the memory verses they recite stay with them as they journey into adulthood. I have two daughters (ages 20 and 18) and they still remember the songs that they were taught in Sabbath School. It is very common to hear them harmonizing with their cousins the songs that they also learned in Children’s Choir (which they were members of when they were under the age of ten). It would bring me so much joy when I would hear them sing the praises of Jesus when they were young, and when I hear them singing those childhood songs now I am reminded of how important it is to teach our children about the love of Jesus while they are young.

The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” This verse is a perfect explanation for why Sabbath School and Children’s ministry is so important. Our children need to be brought up in the way of God. By teaching them the most important lessons, they will hold onto the truth that God is the only answer.
